There was a time when Prophet Isaiaih was a kook
That day has passed. His finest work rises again
Isaih Robertston wasn’t just a linebacker who played in the NFL.
In fact, the football player has nothing to do with Prophet Isaiah Robertson who meticulously crafted his Ontario Avenue, Niagara Falls home into a colorful homage to his faith.
After he died, the home, and art, fell into a bit of disrepair.
Over the last few years, under the careful guidance of the Niagara National Heritage Area, the home and art have been restored thanks to a grant from the Wisconsin-based Kohler Foundation.
Robertson believed the 2nd coming of Jesus was going to happen in Niagara Falls.
The 2nd coming of his house certainly has.
Many of the colorful patterns he painted were created with standard grade latex paint on pine or plywood.
Conservators from Carlisle, Pa. based B.R. Howard Conservation meticulously surveyed and cataloged the site before moving things offsite for restoration and, in some cases, recreation in stable, more preservable media.
The house will be open to the public this Saturday with a reception Saturday night. You can register below.
