Special to the Express

A special week of activities will be taking place at the corner of Pine Ave and Portage Road kicked off over the weekend and continues through July 27th.

The historic building that once housed Niagara Falls High School and more recently The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center is celebrating its 100th Birthday!

Generations of Niagarians have had the opportunity to pass through the halls of this building as either high school students or patrons of the NACC and the numerous cultural programs it offers our community. A committee of local volunteers have been hard at work organizing a week full of events that will help us all recognize and celebrate the important part of our local history this building has provided our community.

The culmination of the week will be a “Cheers To 100 Years!” Anniversary Party on Saturday July 27th from 6-9PM in the building. This over 21 event will feature a DJ, Live Music, and Karaoke in various parts of the building, so people will be literally dancing in the halls!

2 Drinks, food buffet, dessert and coffee service are included in your $30 Ticket. In addition, numerous displays will be in place to show the history of the building, and everyone is welcome to stroll the halls! You can even get a glimpse of the future as the plans for the $8 Million dollar of renovation that is set to begin in Aug will be displayed.

The following free events will take place during the week- all on the front lawn with no admission charge, thanks to generous sponsors:

Wednesday July 24th- Shakespeare On The Lawn @ 7PM “A Midsummer Nights Tour” In partnership w/Shakespeare in Delaware Park.
