The plight of the working poor
An anecdote stuck in my notes from last week from the Pinnacle Services meeting.
A mother with 7 children lives in Centre Court, thanks to the efforts of one of the kind nuns. The family went from paying $1,200 in rent to living in Centre Court and paying $660 for a 4-bedroom home.
She manages housekeeping at a downtown hotel.
She recently turned down a $3 hourly raise because she was afraid of losing SNAP benefits according to a none who spoke at the meeting.
Two thoughts: How does someone end up with 7 kids? The income limit is $65,738 for a family that large.
I have more questions than answers but our job is to love and seek understanding, not judge.
