274 days without a drug murder in the hood. On Oct. 2, 2023 shooting on Pine Avenue. Robert Miller was the victim.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: A resident of the 600 block of 15th Street reported sometime early Friday morning someone smashed the mirror on is car.
FIGHT: That there was a fight, involving a baseball bat, is certain at about 6 p.m. Friday. The involved parties on 32nd Street told police different stories. According to the police report, Matthew Conti, 32, of 432 32nd said “Ight bet nigga I’ll be back to blow up your shit.” A phone was broken and there were other confusing details. Conti was charged with menacing 2nd degree.
ASSAULT: A worker going door-to-door knocked at the wrong house on LaFayette Circle at about 6:20 p.m. Saturday. Simon D. Mokhiber, 49, of 1726 Willow Ave. allegedly listened to the victim claim he knocked on the wrong door, exited, pushed him and punched him in the face. Mohiber was charged with 3rd degree assault attempt to injure someone 65 or older.
DWI: At 3:25 a.m. Sunday police responded to a report of a property damage accident near 1100 22nd St. Police observed Alize Ryan, 26, of 1160 Ontario Ave. walking away from the scene. She admitted driving the vehicle and said it belonged to a friend but then became argumentative and irate. Neighbors said they heard a loud bang, saw the crashed car and observed an unidentified male walking away from the scene. That person apparently succeeded in escaping. Ryan was charged with DWI, DWI Drugs/alcohol, aggravated unlicensed operation, alcohol/cannibis in a motor vehicle, moving from a lane unsafely and imprudent speed.
ASSAULT: Police responded to an address in the 400 block of 12th Street at about 2:30 a.m. where a man was bleeding from a facial laceration, his elbow and knuckles. He had apparently been shoved and punched in the face but did not know by whom.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON: Police were called to 1918 Pine Ave. at about 9 a.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious person setting a trash can on fire. Niagara Falls firefighters put out a small fire in the trash can. No suspect was identified.
MEAT FIGHT: A grocery store employee confronted someone stealing steak on Saturday. The suspect left the store but then called Sunday, asked for the employee who had confronted him, and said “thanks for the steak” and allegedly made comments about hurting the employee and his family and gave his name and address. The employee drove to 9309 Cayuga Drive and confronted Michael Craig, 56, of that address. A verbal argument ensued and Craig threw a cinder block at the man’s car causing $200 in damage.
BASKETBALL FIGHT: Police responded to the area of 1348 Ashland Avenue at 4:45 p.m. Sunday for a report of a large fight. Adults and children were milling around in a confrontation that began on the basketball court.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police responded to a Marine Memorial Drive residence for a report of a broken window shortly after 12 a.m. Monday. The resident suspected his former girlfriend.
LOUD MUSIC: Police responded to 479 20th St. at 12:45 a.m. Monday for a complaint of loud music. Mario Luna, 43, had been previously warned multiple times to turn down the music but allegedly cranked it up as soon as police left. He was charged with disorderly conduct/unreasonable noise.
