'Frecce tricolori' buzzes Falls

A squadron of 10 Italian Air Force fighter jets, on a tour of North America, visited Niagara Falls Monday afternoon.

“Frecce Tricolori” has 10 planes, one solo and 9 that fly in formation.

They flew over the Falls at speed releasing red, white and green smoke.

They were part of the Royal Canadian Air Force celebration last weekend prior to visiting the Falls.

There is no local media coverage because Rob Bennett was out of town, ironically at an airshow and no one let the TV news stations know the planes would be here.

The team flies the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN, a two-seat fighter-trainer craft capable of 898 km/h at sea level.[2][3] (about 600 mph)

They are the world's largest acrobatics patrol, and their flight schedule, comprising about 20 acrobatics and about half an hour, makes them among the most famous in the world, rivaling the Blue Angels.
