Gratitude for Recent U.S. Policy Shift Towards Gaza, Just in Time for Eid

Dear Editor,

The recent warning from President Joe Biden to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the protection of civilians and aid workers in Gaza is a crucial step in the right direction. The tragic loss of seven food aid workers has prompted a necessary reassessment of U.S. support for Israel's actions.

It is unfortunate that it took such a devastating loss for the U.S. government to demand a change in tactics, especially considering its previous obstruction of UN efforts to broker a ceasefire. However, President Biden's willingness to challenge Israel's actions signifies a significant shift in policy, emphasizing the urgent need for humanitarian intervention.

I express my gratitude to President Biden and other international leaders for their commitment to peace and human rights. Their actions offer hope in a dark chapter of the region's history.

It is worth noting that this intervention comes just in time for the Eid celebration marking the end of Ramadan, which falls on Tuesday, April 10th. This gesture towards peace and protection of civilians in Gaza holds significant meaning for millions of Muslims around the world as they prepare to celebrate this important occasion.

It is not only Muslims, but also Jews and Christians living in Israel and Palestine who seek a peaceful resolution to this conflict. They too are looking for a permanent solution that ensures the safety and well-being of all people in the region.

Let us learn from this tragedy and work towards a resolution that prioritizes the safety and well-being of all affected by conflict. May these efforts lead to a future defined by peace and mutual respect.

Sincerely,

Anas Mangla
