The Niagara National Heritage Area hosted a grand opening Saturday afternoon for the Women of Niagara, a celebration of portraits painted by Polly King, some of which are now displayed in the windows of the former Jenss.
We have to rely on projects like this to get our spirits up because while Canada keeps its visitor revenue local and reinvests in the community, New York State Parks brings 9 million visitors a year to town but works to keep them captive rather than supporting its host community.
The Heritage Area has a great Website that includes a directory of the portraits but many remain unidentified.
