CITIZEN COMPLAINS ABOUT MURAL: As reported in the Express a few weeks ago, the murals in Niagara Falls are not celebrated by everyone. The most recent vociferous protest came in the form of an older white man who stopped into Connections on Main Street to express disdain for the new mural at about 1:30 p.m. last Saturday. According to the police report, he said he didn’t want to see any gay paintings on the side of buildings because it’s not good for the community to be looking at. The unknown man also said it better not still be on the side of the building when he comes back. The man also said he thinks Connections is siding with other countries that are against the United States. If the man is identified, the business asks him to be trespassed from the building.
PREMISE CHECK: Plywood on a bay door on the side of the Niagara Falls Police Club building on Hyde Park Boulevard was found to be loose during a premise check at 11:22 a.m. Monday.
BOOKBAG TAKEN: A Centre Avenue resident reported the theft of a bookbag from her car sometime Monday morning.
RESTAURANT ENTERED: The former La Cardenas Restaurant, 549 Main Street was entered by someone who pried open a window and left via a rear door.
GARAGE FIRE: Police were called to an alley in the 400 block of 26th Street for a structure fire at about 3:15 p.m. Monday. The property owner said he allowed someone to use the garage to store tools and work on a ‘75 Chevelle.
STOLEN CARD: A resident came to the police station to report she dropped her debit card after pumping gas and someone used it to charge $150 in goods.
DWI: Police observed a vehicle traveling on the 4700 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard with a taillight out/not active and executed a traffic stop at about 9 p.m. Monday. Shaun Suddith, 46, of 2463 Cleveland Ave. drove over the curb as he attempted to stop. Suddith allegedly smelled like alcohol, failed field sobriety tests, and blew a BAC of .147%. He was charged with no sufficient tail lamps, DWI and driving with a BAC greater than .08%.
ABANDONED VEHICLE: An apparently abandoned vehicle was towed from the 100 block of the 77th St. alley at about 10 a.m. Thursday.
CASH STOLEN: A Falls resident reported someone used a deposit slip to withdraw $1,000 from her bank account. The theft was reported noon Monday.
WARRANT EXECUTED: Police reported to the Rainbow Bridge at about 1:30 Tuesday and assisted in the execution of a warrant for the arrest of Humberto Vazquez, 39, of Front Royal, Va.
STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERY: Police responded to 1600 block of Linwood Avenue where a cargo van stolen earlier in the day was recovered at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
MENACING: A resident of the 400 block of Elmwood Avenue reported he heard a noise outside his house at about 4 a.m. Tuesday. When he went to investigate, a man forced his way into the apartment and threatened him with a gun but then drove away in a black Dodge Ram. Police located Jason Conrad, 49, of Grand Island in a nearby driveway. He was charged with burglary displaying a fire arm and menacing 2nd.
