Death of a diesel Jetta

Wanted to write about Saturday’s adventures but our day got shit upon by my car.

Hit the North Tonawanda Market for produce and Anastasia’s rye but somehow couldn’t get close to her stand because people are chatty and she was very busy.

Came north through Niagara County to gets some eggs and fuel along Route 31.

Then we headed to Niagara Sausage Mart. As we turned right on Hyde Park, a flashing warning light beeped, “oil pressure failure. Shut off the engine.”
I parked it, popped the hood, checked the oil (it was just changed Wednesday) and immediately blamed Coppins Garage in Lewiston.

Then I called AAA. By the time the flatbed arrived, Beth had walked home with Gord. I had time for one quick bourbon at Mister M’s. When I headed back outside there was a huge puddle of dark, greasy fluid under my car.

The darkness led a neighbor who lives nearby, Lee, to surmise it was likely transmission fluid, not oil. Diagnosis will wait until Monday but I may be in the market for a new vehicle, which hurts.
