Aldean and small towns

Jason Aldean is an American singer and songwriter who performs country music. Last week Aldean caused quite a controversy singing a song he didn't write called " Try that in a small town " The song was written by Kurt Allison, Kelly Kennedy, Kelly Lovelace and Neil Thrasher.

The song recounts a tale of small town justice where the town and those in it become the judge, jury and executioner of anyone who speaks or acts out of turn.

Aldean chose to sing this song at the Maury courthouse in Tennessee, where the KKK has killed or lynched numerous black men. The video displayed during Aldean singing the song is a compilation of so-called black lives matter crime material. The lyrics suggest that in his small town the "good ole boys will take the law into their own hands.” Aldean makes it clear he is against gun control.

Still Aldean claims there is nothing racist in the song or videos. He also claims that in 2015 when he showed up in blackface and dreadlocks at a Halloween party it was just all in fun.

The song is selling big and has gained prominence with the republican party as some are playing it during their rallies.
