Confer celebrates diversity, social justive

I was looking at Twitter Monday when I noticed @bobconfer writing about his company’s plastic funnels being available on Amazon.

Here’s what Bob wrote:

"Week One is in the books for the [re]launch of our funnel.

"What a week it has been! Sales were so incredible we had to run more of them. Then, Amazon considered the funnel a hot new release. And, yesterday, an e-commerce retailer said he'll buy a bunch of them specially branded to his business.

"The energy has been incredible. In our world of pool and spa products, we're not used to unboxing photos. So, it's been an absolute joy to receive as many of those as we have this week through emails and social media posts. People love these funnels and love sharing that love.

"Everyone has to have a funnel in their garage for their car or lawn mower, so their purchase meets a need. But it has also been a feel- good buy for them (and for us)...they can buy American, they can buy the original.

"The product, which was invented by Doug Confer, got mothballed in 1990 when the patent expired and foreign competition took over. E-commerce, along with motivation for CPI's 50th anniversary, gave us a chance to enter the market again, claim what was once ours, and provide products to customers and opportunity to coworkers.

"One customer, so committed to the value of Made in USA, shared her unboxing photo and said she immediately threw out the China-made funnel in her garage when ours arrived in the mail!

"THANK YOU!" to all of you.

"The purchases...the photos..the future...YOU..all of that justified that we made the right decision, even though it seemed like a crazy thing to do at first, to bring back something that we hadn't made in 33 years.

"We're back...for keeps."

I also looked further on his company site and grew immediately suspicious when I saw a link for social justice. Then I clicked on it and read.

What a great and diverse employer, empowering and respecting people and making a way forward for all. It is possible for a family-owned manufacturer to succeed in New York, compete with China, treat employees well and remain profitable.

It’s the "get rich slow" theme worked to perfection. I can’t pretend to parrot what was written but here is a link
