Developer has been a bad neighbor
It seems all glitter for Rod Davis' RJD properties to be gifted 10 properties for $50,000 by the City of Niagara Falls and to receive a $1 million grant to rehab them in the soon-to-be gentrified downtown area.
Then you scratch a bit and find out about Rod Davis’ reputation. It stinks a bit. His properties so far make shitty neighbors.
Davis has owned two properties in the Park Place Historic District for the past couple years. At a property on 4th Street, neighbors chipped in to call 1-800-Got-junk to pick up a couch left out front so their short term rental guests wouldn’t have to walk by.
At another house on Cedar the lawn was rarely mowed and a pile of tires sits in the alley right across from the court building. Davis might be the darling of the Restaino administration but so far he’s a shitty neighbor.
Since when do people have a voice in who buys private property(s) ??
When it's purchased for cents on the dollar from the city where I believe it's required to go through a bidding process. Also, when said individuals have proven to be poor stewards of properties they already own, especially in a historic district where certain standards are required, they should not be sold/given more properties to neglect. There's too many responsible property owners who should be given an opportunity to at least bid as well. RFP's would go a long way in improving neglected properties if the city used them.
We don't have a say over private property. We should have a say when it is owned by the taxpayers and sold by the government.
