I only commute more than 10 minutes about 3 times every two weeks. Of late, I listen mostly to sports talk or BTPM with WBEN thrown in for weather/far right rhetoric. We never seemed to catch on to streaming music from our phones to our cars.
At home, we have been rebuilding our album collection. Saturday morning's listening pleasure was ELP's "Works II" from 1978 on vinyl followed by "Works." We've been out for live music 2 times so far this year, Grace Stumberg at the Caz with (Grace Lougen and Grosh less Meghan Brown,) Maria Sebastian and The Visitors and Greg Klyma and the Willie Jacks at The Cave.
With Artpark lawn seats up to $69 for The Avett Brothers and $74 for Ray LaMontagne we will be spending our money this year mostly on local musicians playing original music in small venues. I am hoping Ray Berry Entertainment hosts live free shows again at Academy Park in Lewiston.
Last season we made it twice, for Steven Page and for Junior Marvin and the Wailers.
Next weekend we are going to see a Stones tribute at the Riviera with some Canadian friends we met at Artpark. We relate better to people when we connect in real life, not just across keyboards. As Brené Brown says "it's hard to hate up close, move in." Or as I say all the time "tell me more about why you feel that way. I might agree." Even when I don't, we lose nothing by listening. It's a beautiful day. Go for a walk.
