NO INSURANCE: A plate reader identified a car traveling in the 400 block of Hyde Park Boulevard as having no insurance. The driver, a Cedar Avenue resident was charged with operating without insurance.

BURGLARY: Hyde Park Family Dollar was burglarized late Tuesday night by a man who kicked in the glass on the front door. Police are continuing the investigation but there is video and physical evidence.

BASIC WILL BE EASY: An 8th Street residence was the scene of a dispute between a young man leaving for basic training and his mother’s boyfriend at about 2:45 p.m. on Veterans’ Day. The suspect confronted and fought with the young man and threatened him with a machete before retreating to a bedroom and throwing his belongings, including the weapon, out a 2nd story window. As he gathered things outside, police arrived and took him into custody on a charge of menacing. The victim said he was spending the day with his mom before leaving for basic training.
