Monday, workers from the Niagara National Heritage Area spent the day sketching pavement art at Main, Portage and Pierce.
Tuesday was a rain day, but they were back at it Wednesday under the supervision of Tyshaun Tyson with the help of volunteer students from Abate Elementary.
WKBW’s Taylor Anthony visited the site Wednesday morning to film a segment linked below.
Work will continue Thursday and be completed Friday. The $25,000 project was funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies.
On the first day of the project, an entitled moved the traffic barrier and drove through the site, deeply concerning everyone involved.
I ranted about that entitled driver on the Express. Alas, Wednesday morning, our government responded by blocking the road with dump trucks from the DPW. Thank you Public Works Superintendent Kenny Tompkins.
Painting will be completed today and bollards will be mounted to frame the murals. The bollards will be attached to the pavement with screws placed in holes drilled into the concrete.
For me, the highlight of last year's Birds on the Niagara Festival was watching a Great Blue Heron cruising down the Niagara River on an ice flow. It was going @ a fast clip @ Lewiston Landing, and looked like it was enjoying the ride!
