Hyde Park work continues

Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper is working with the City of Niagara Falls to implement the Gill Creek Green Infrastructure Project with the primary purpose of improving water quality within Hyde Park Lake, which is located along Gill Creek, a tributary to the Niagara River.

The project takes place in a location where Waterkeeper has documented recurring Harmful Algal Blooms since 2017. Two stormwater pipes that drain directly to the lake, as well as a portion of the Hyde Park Golf Course are included in the project area. The project will utilize green infrastructure solutions, including an infiltration trench and floodplain benches, to capture and infiltrate over 2 million gallons of stormwater runoff annually.
