Catholic Charities appeal tops $5 million
BUFFALO, N.Y., April 2, 2025 – Appeal officials announced Appeal 2025 in support of Catholic Charities of Buffalo and the Fund for the Faith has reached $5 million. As of today, the annual campaign has raised $5,061,129, which is 59% of this year’s $8.5 million goal. Last year’s Appeal 2024 did not reach the $5 million mark until April 23.
“In order to continue to provide HOPE for all, this year we knew Appeal 2025 needed help from all and we’re off to an encouraging start thanks to the generosity of so many,” said Deacon Steve Schumer, president and CEO, Catholic Charities of Buffalo. “We know we still have some way to go toward our goal, but we are confident that the community will come through.”
The annual Appeal provides critical funding for more than 50 programs and services administered by Catholic Charities along with several ministries through the Fund for the Faith. As Western New York’s most comprehensive human services provider, Catholic Charities’ programs and services benefit Western New Yorkers in all eight counties. This includes essential services from behavioral health and basic emergency assistance to workforce training and family safety and stabilization programs. The Fund for the Faith provides needed funding for programs that support the faith experience across all parish communities, including hospital chaplaincy, and training for ordained and lay ministers, among others.
“While we are grateful for the support to have helped so many – nearly one out of every ten individuals in our community – we know that the need will only continue to grow,” said Dr. Michael Noe, Appeal 2025 chair. “And because of that increasing need, it’s never been so important for our community to come together to lift up our neighbors in need and bring HOPE to those who need it most.”
Appeal 2025 ends on June 30 and gifts or pledges are needed by then in order to reach this year’s goal.
