“Beyond Borders” Annual Latino Art Exhibition celebrates and showcases the visual art and cultural expressions of Latino/a/x artists from across Western New York. This exhibit is curated by Dr. Michele Agosto and Aileen Gonzalez-Marti of Los Artistas del Barrio Buffalo and continues at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center through Oct. 5.
This year’s exhibit invites viewers and artists to consider what it means to go Beyond Borders, both physically, psychologically and emotionally. Artists were asked to consider the physical world and look for inspiration from the elements of FIRE, WATER, AIR and EARTH, as well as the idea of discovery and exploration of one’s personal journey in relation to a Hispanic or Latino/a/x or Spanish-culture.
It is the goal that Latino/a/x heritage, and history be respected and considered in all of the work to help foster critical and courageous conversations that are required to understand one another’s realities.
