TRAFFIC STOP: Police on GIVE patrol on Niagara Falls Boulevard at about 6:30 Monday when they were passed by a fast-moving Camaro traveling 56 in a 40 mph zone. A license plate cover kept them from being able to identify. Officers used plate readers throughout the city and an Instagram handle on the rear window to confirm the plate number and address. They traveled to 534 77th St. where the car was parked in the driveway. Police knocked on the door and found a father who was willing to produce Kaden Maloney, 21, who admitted he was driving the vehicle. Maloney was charged with speeding/imprudent speed, running a red light, dirty or covered plate, reckless driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, failure to yield a right-of-way, driving with obstructed vision, unsafe lane change/failure to signal and moving from a lane unsafely.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Someone threw a rock through the front window sometime mid-day Monday. A rock was found in the living room. Damage was estimated at $150.
LARCENY FROM VEHICLE: Officers were called to a 10th Street address Sunday night into Monday morning. Items taken were valued in excess of $1,000.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Officers were called to the Comfort Inn parking lot on Prospect Point because Monday night, someone busted out the window on a 2007 Pontiac minivan and stole a Kindle valued at $150.
LARCENY: A 56th Street resident reported someone in California fraudulently charged $348.21 to Door Dash.
WINDSHIELD SMASHED: A man reported someone smashed the windshield on his rental vehicle with a rock sometime between 2 and 3 p.m. Wednesday on Ontario Avenue.
STOLEN VEHICLE: A Walnut Avenue resident reported someone stole a 2009 Ford Taurus from his driveway.
BURGLARY: A resident of the 500 block of 26th Street reported someone entered her home as she slept on the Tuesday/Wednesday overnight and stole her Playstation 5, car keys and car. The vehicle, a GM product, had Onstar and was located and recovered. The investigation is continuing.
TRAFFIC STOP: Police on patrol on Portage Road at about 4:55 p.m. Wednesday observed a vehicle with a taillight not working, ran the plates and executed a traffic stop. The report did not ID the driver who was charged with an insufficient tail light, no insurance, driving with a suspended registration and aggravated unlicensed operation.
ASHLAND STORE BUST: Officers patrolling a narcotic hotspot at Ashland and 19th pulled up on the scene to see the dice-rollers flee. They identified one party, Gregory Minor, 27, of 1810 Cleveland Ave. as wanted on a warrant. Miller fled. Cops chased into the alley between Ashland and LaSalle commanding “stop” and “you are under arrest.” When they caught him he was detained not only on the outstanding warrants but also with a new charge, resisting arrest.
