Special meeting canceled

For the 2nd time in a month, an agenda item set to come before the Niagara Falls Council has been pulled.

This time, it resulted in the cancellation of a special meeting scheduled for this evening.

The agenda included passage of an amendment to the police contract that changed overtime rules, increased wages across the board and allowed the city to hire parking enforcement personnel.

The cancelation was attributed to difficulties with language details that might cause more experienced officers to see less benefit.

For years, the only people in the Falls who receive parking tickets are those who park on the wrong side of the street overnight.

Parking in the downtown tourism ticket is by meter but there is zero enforcement.
