Psycho Killer Qu'est-ce que c'est?

The good news is Gord Poodle is now 3-0-1, with a dead possum and skunk, a wounded woodchuck and an escaped squirrel.

As I drove home late afternoon Beth called in a panic.

She let him out to pee and do dog things in our fenced-yard and answered a work call.

As she tried to deal with her call, she realized Gord had cornered a woodchuck in the yard and was ragdolling it. She didn’t know what to do so she hung up and called me. I was 1 minute away.

As I arrived, Gord was having great fun with the bloody, wounded young animal, a fun, live and squeaky toy.

He shook it back and forth. It broke free and chattered, trying to sound fierce and letting the world know it was dissatisfied with fate.

I sent Beth for the leash. The whistlepig chattered, upset, wounded, cowering against the fence. I hoped it was dead because I wanted to call the health department and have it tested for rabies.

Alas, when I returned outside, the woodchuck was gone.

He now has killed a skunk, a opossum and allowed a squirrel to escape. I give him a clean win on the woodchuck even if it lived to tell the tale. He wants a chipmunk or raccoon next.

Somehow he is very interested in a duck as well. He also likes to chase rabbits but if the bunny sits, undisturbed, he stares and does not know what to do, even off leash.

The opossum was in Clarence. The skunk was in our backyard. The squirrel was in DeVeaux Woods when he was galavanting two years ago, because he slipped out the front door.

He caught it on a dead run, barrel rolled with it in his mouth and seemed surprised when it broke free and ran up a tree.

Thankfully, he no longer really escapes. He runs home again as soon as he realizes he’s free and returning will bring a treat. He also has been vaccinated for rabies and distemper.

I hope the woodchuck never comes back and I don’t question anything Beth did. As for Gord, he needs a walk. And a duck. Definitely a duck.
