Investigative Post tears into IDAs

The way the IDAs serve as patronage pits is legendary but hardly ever succinctly laid out.

Investigative Post changed that yesterday. Incentives for mega-projects like the Amazon mega-warehouse generate enough fees to pay for the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency for about 3 years.

That’s the misunderstood part. I remember Paula’s Donut’s receiving an abatement for sales tax during construction of its Clarence store. Sales tax generated in the first month offset the entire abatement.
