“This weekend marks the return of Niagara University students as we begin the 2023-2024 academic year. First-year students began arriving to campus yesterday and today, and upper-class students arrive on Sunday. We know this is a critical time to establish standards and expectations for our students as good citizens, neighbors, and representatives of Niagara University in the local community.

“We wanted to share information with you on continuing steps the University is taking to reinforce standards with our students and provide resources that may be helpful to you should you encounter any challenges with our students in the coming weeks and months.

“The attached message reminding students of their responsibilities and consequences for misbehavior in the community was shared today with all Niagara University graduate and undergraduate students.

“A university-subsidized NFPD patrol dedicated to the Deveaux neighborhood that began last spring will resume beginning this evening and running Friday and Saturday overnights through the academic year.

“All students living off-campus will complete a mandatory training and education session on responsible community citizenship within the first two-weeks of the semester.

“By policy, all students are required to provide updated local address information to the University for accurate accounting of local tenancy.

“Niagara University in collaboration with the office of the mayor of Niagara Falls has scheduled the fall-semester Deveaux-area community meeting on Tuesday, September 12th, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Maple Avenue School.
