The Niagara Falls National Heritage Area, under the watchful guidance of Sarah Beilein Capen, is working to preserve and protect the Polly King Art Collection. Ally Spongr is likely involved in helping out as well.
Polly was the most prolific artist in Niagara Falls History, painting portraits and abstract art, documenting the construction of the Robert Moses Power Plant and spending winters in France where she continued creating work.
Polly’s son Don is a giant of a man, looking after her collection and waiting for the day her art gains international prominence. Don is a long-time community servant who served the school board, Rotary, hospital board and other organizations.
You can learn more here. If you reach out to Don via the link, he will gladly schedule a time for a tour of the museum on Chilton Avenue which includes at least 8,000 pieces. Capen and associates are conducting a comprehensive inventory and catalog.
Please contact Don, take a tour and tell him I sent you. In fact, if you want me to lead a tour, we could do Castellani, Polly King and the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center.
