October in the Niagara Falls City School District: Learning, Opportunity, and Community

As we welcome the vibrant colors and excitement of October, the Niagara Falls City School District continues to provide meaningful opportunities for students and families both inside and outside of the classroom. This month highlights our commitment to academic excellence, student engagement, enrichment programs, and strong community partnerships that help prepare every student for success.

Expanding Opportunities Through Say Yes Saturday Academies

One of the month's signature events will be the Say Yes Niagara Falls Saturday Academy on Saturday, October 4, at Harry F. Abate Elementary School. The Saturday Academies provide students and families with engaging educational experiences that extend learning beyond the traditional school day.

Through hands-on activities, academic enrichment, career exploration, social-emotional learning, arts programming, and family engagement opportunities, the Saturday Academies continue to serve as an important resource for our community. These programs reflect our belief that learning can happen anywhere and that meaningful partnerships help strengthen outcomes for all children.

The Saturday Academies are supported by dedicated staff, community organizations, and volunteers who work together to create enriching experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and personal growth.

Wolverine Pride on Display During Homecoming

The Niagara Falls community will come together to celebrate Homecoming at Niagara Falls High School on Saturday, October 17th. Homecoming is one of the most anticipated traditions of the school year and serves as a celebration of school pride, student achievement, and community spirit.

Students, families, alumni, faculty, and community members will gather to support our Wolverines while enjoying the excitement that makes Homecoming a memorable event. Beyond the festivities, Homecoming serves as a reminder of the strong connections that unite generations of Niagara Falls students and reinforce the pride we share in our schools.

NY Inspires-Portrait of a Graduate

The Niagara Falls City School District is also excited to engage in the statewide conversation surrounding NY Inspires, New York State's new initiative designed to reimagine educational success through a Portrait of a Graduate framework. While Regents examinations will remain, there will be a greater emphasis on multiple measures of student learning. This vision emphasizes the skills and competencies students need to thrive in college, careers, and life, including critical thinking, effective communication, collaboration, adaptability, civic engagement, and lifelong learning. As a District committed to equity, excellence, and opportunity, we look forward to aligning our programs, instructional practices, career pathways, and community partnerships with this vision to ensure every Niagara Falls graduate is prepared to succeed in an ever-changing world.

Looking Ahead

As we move through October, the Niagara Falls City School District remains focused on creating equitable opportunities, fostering student achievement, and strengthening connections with families and community partners. Whether through Saturday Academies, Homecoming celebrations, or various enrichment programs, our students continue to benefit from experiences that prepare them for success in school and beyond.

Thank you to our educators, staff, families, community organizations, and volunteers whose dedication makes these opportunities possible. Together, we are building a stronger future for the children of Niagara Falls.

Go Wolverines!
