Niagara Falls crews responded early Monday afternoon to a report of a woman who climbed a railing while holding her child and jumped into the gorge between Terrapin Point and the Cave of the Winds.
Rescue crews recovered the woman and child from the slippery, rocky terrain about 70 years from the top.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene after personnel administered CPR. Her 5-year-old was transported to the hospital via Mercy Flight.
